The Pennsylvania Chapter of APA is pleased to invite nominations for the 2008 Pennsylvania Chapter of APA Planning Awards, to be presented at the Annual Conference, October 12- 14, 2008, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a great opportunity to showcase distinguished individuals and successful planning projects – the best & brightest in Pennsylvania planning!
Deadline - Completed nomination entries and all accompanying materials must be received at PA Chapter’s Harrisburg office, 587 James Drive, Harrisburg, PA, 17112, by 4:00 p.m. on June 13, 2008. This is a firm deadline and will not be extended. Application forms and supporting materials received after that date will not be accepted.

Planners Call for Overhaul of New Certification Maintenance Program; APA Responds
In a recent article in the online publication Planetizen, a group of planners outlined their concerns about the new certification maintenance program established by the AICP Commission. AICP President Graham Billingsly and AICP staff Monica Groh provide their respective responses. AICP members are invited to read these articles and submit comments to Alex Graziani, PA Chapter President, and Lee Slusser, Professional Development Officer. Comments will be shared during discussion at the upcoming APA conference. Responses should be sent no later than April 18 to info@planningpa.org.

APA Hazards Planning Research Center Needs Planning Data
The APA Hazards Planning Research Center is currently looking for planning documents and related publications that address hazard mitigation, to create a collection of best practices that make the connection between hazard mitigation planning and other local planning activities. Planners have a real opportunity to affect change on a wide variety of subjects through their strategic position as advisors to policy makers in town, city, county, and regional governments.
